Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a security feature designed to better protect your account. 
In addition to normal authentication using your ID (email address) and password, it prevents unauthorized access to your account by requiring a one-time code generated by various external authenticator applications.

 

Pre-Requisites:

Before setting up two-factor authentication, please prepare the following;

  • Authenticator App (e.g., Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator)
  • Smartphone or Tablet

 

Setup Procedure with Authenticator App (Recommended):

  1. Click the gear mark in the upper right corner of the screen and select "My Page".
  2. Click "Use Authenticator App".
  3. On the screen titled "Enable TOTP Authentication", click "ENABLE".
  4. Enter your Chemican login password and click "CONFIRM".
  5. Launch your authenticator app and scan the QR code or add the key.
  6. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the authenticator app into the "Enter Verification Code" field on the Chemican screen.
  7. Review the recovery code saving screen and click "COMPLETE SETUP".
    • Note: The recovery code is a recovery method for when you can no longer use your authenticator app. While not mandatory, saving it is highly recommended.
  8. A recovery code confirmation screen will appear. 
    Click "I have saved the code".
  9. A screen confirming that two-factor authentication setup is complete will appear. 
    Click "LOG OUT".
  10. On the login screen, enter your email address and password, and click Login.
  11. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the authenticator app onto the Chemican screen.

 

Setup Procedure with SMS:

Note: SMS authentication requires a separate paid contract. Please inquire if you wish to use this service.

  1. Click the gear mark in the upper right corner of the screen and select "My Page".
  2. Click "Use SMS authentication".
  3. On the screen titled "Enable SMS Authentication," click "ENABLE".
  4. Enter your Chemican login password and click "CONFIRM".
  5. The phone number input screen will appear. 
    Enter your phone number and click "SEND CORD".
  6. Enter the 6-digit SMS code received on your registered phone number onto the Chemican screen.
  7. A screen confirming that two-factor authentication setup is complete will appear. 
    Click "LOG OUT".
  8. On the login screen, enter your email address and password, and click ”LOGIN”.
  9. The two-factor authentication screen will appear. Enter the 6-digit SMS code received on your registered phone number.
    • Note: The code is valid for 10 minutes.

 

Using the Recovery Code (Authenticator App Only) :

  1. On the login screen, enter your email address and password, and click ”LOGIN”.
  2. When the two-factor authentication screen appears, click "Use Recovery Code".
  3. Enter the recovery code to log in.
    • Note: Each recovery code can only be used once. Please be aware that a recovery code used once cannot be reused.

 

Procedure for Disabling Two-Factor Authentication:

  1. Click the gear mark in the upper right corner of the screen and select "My Page".
  2. Click the "Use Authenticator App" or "Use SMS authentication" option that is currently ON.
  3. A screen to disable authentication will appear. 
    Click "DISABLE".
  4. Enter the 6-digit code according to the authentication method you have set.

 

Notes:

  • It is possible to register the same account on multiple authenticator apps.
  • The authentication code refreshes every 30 seconds. Always enter the latest code, as old codes cannot be used.
  • If the QR code cannot be scanned, please increase the screen brightness and try again.
